Our client in Pemba is looking for Mine Planning Specialist to join their team within the Mining Sector.
Responsibilities
- Develop, maintain, and optimize the Life‑of‑mine plan aligned with corporate strategy.
- Conduct pit optimisation, scenario modelling, and mine scheduling for long‑term value creation.
- Lead capital planning related to fleet requirements, infrastructure, and waste‑management strategies.
- Supervise Short‑Term Planning Engineers and ensure high‑quality daily/weekly mining instructions.
- Validate bench sequencing, drill‑and‑blast plans, ore routing, and grade-control integration.
- Coordinate with Production to ensure plan compliance and timely problem‑solving.
- Ensure all mine plans meet regulatory, environmental, and corporate governance requirements.
- Produce LOM reports, production forecasts, budgeting inputs, and technical documentation.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Mining Engineering or a related discipline.
- 7–10+ years of experience in open‑pit mine planning, with at least 3 years in a senior or supervisory role.
- Proficiency in major mine‑planning software (Surpac, Vulcan, Datamine, Deswik, or equivalent).
- Strong knowledge of mine design, scheduling, optimisation, and operational integration.
- Demonstrated experience in LOM planning and strategic mine engineering.
- Strong understanding of drilling/blasting, survey methods, grade control, and geotechnical considerations.
