Sobre a Vaga
An established mining operation is seeking an experienced Mining Production Supervisor to take front-line responsibility for safe, efficient and productive mining activities.
This is a highly hands-on operational role for a supervisor who prefers being in the pit and close to the operation, rather than managing production from an office. You’ll lead operators and mining crews, coordinate extraction and haulage activities, maintain production discipline and ensure accurate operational reporting throughout each shift.
The successful candidate will combine strong people leadership with practical mining knowledge, safety awareness and a disciplined approach to production performance.
The Opportunity
As the Mining Production Supervisor, you’ll oversee day-to-day mining activities to ensure production targets are achieved safely and efficiently.
You’ll coordinate operators, equipment and material movement while maintaining close control over extraction quality, haulage performance and plant feed requirements. You’ll also take ownership of daily production information, ensuring operational data is accurate and provides management with a reliable picture of mining performance.
This is an opportunity to have a direct impact on safety, productivity and operational efficiency within a hands-on mining environment.
Key Responsibilities
Mining Operations & Production
* Supervise daily extraction and material movement activities across active mining areas.
* Direct equipment operators to ensure safe and disciplined mining practices.
* Coordinate excavation and haulage activities to maintain consistent material supply to downstream processing operations.
* Allocate equipment and personnel effectively to achieve daily production targets.
* Monitor mining activities throughout the shift and respond quickly to operational constraints.
* Support effective grade control and minimise unnecessary dilution or waste movement.
Pit Safety & Operational Control
* Maintain a strong visible safety presence across mining activities.
* Monitor working faces, benches and slopes for potential instability or unsafe conditions.
* Ensure safe traffic movement and interaction between mobile equipment and personnel.
* Conduct pre-shift toolbox talks and reinforce safe working practices.
* Ensure appropriate PPE and operational procedures are followed.
* Respond to and report incidents and near misses in accordance with site requirements.
Production & Haulage Performance
* Monitor haulage cycles, equipment utilisation, load movements and operational delays.
* Coordinate mobile equipment to maintain efficient material flow.
* Review daily production records and reconcile operator information against equipment hours and material movements.
* Investigate discrepancies and ensure production information is accurate before reporting.
* Prepare clear and accurate daily and weekly production reports.
Equipment & Shift Efficiency
* Review equipment pre-start inspections before machinery enters service.
* Identify equipment defects and coordinate maintenance requirements with the appropriate teams.
* Drive efficient shift start-ups through effective crew allocation, equipment checks and operational readiness.
* Monitor fuel, machine hours and consumable usage.
* Maintain awareness of haul road conditions, drainage and dewatering requirements.
* Identify opportunities to improve equipment utilisation and reduce avoidable production delays.
Team Leadership
* Supervise, motivate and coordinate mining operators and pit crews.
* Allocate labour and equipment according to production priorities.
* Manage attendance, timekeeping and workplace discipline.
* Coach operators in safe equipment operation and effective mining practices.
* Improve the quality and consistency of operational data captured by the team.
* Build a culture of accountability, teamwork and safety.
About You
We’re looking for a practical mining professional who combines strong front-line leadership with a thorough understanding of production operations.
You will ideally bring:
* At least 4 years’ experience within surface, open-pit or alluvial mining operations.
* A minimum of 2 years’ supervisory experience within a mining environment.
* Strong understanding of safe mining practices and operational risk management.
* Experience supervising mobile equipment operators and production crews.
* Practical knowledge of extraction, haulage and material movement activities.
* Experience monitoring production performance and maintaining accurate operational records.
* Good spreadsheet and basic production reporting capabilities.
* The ability to lead, motivate and develop operational teams.
* Strong communication, organisational and problem-solving skills.
* A technical qualification in Mining Engineering, Geology or a related discipline would be advantageous, although substantial relevant operational experience will also be considered.
* Experience in alluvial or similar surface mining environments would be beneficial.
Why Join?
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced mining supervisor who wants genuine responsibility for day-to-day production performance.
You’ll have the opportunity to lead from the front, improve operational discipline, develop your team and make a measurable contribution to safety, equipment utilisation and production performance.
If you’re a hands-on mining professional who enjoys being close to the operation and leading teams to achieve safe, consistent production, we’d welcome the opportunity to speak with you in confidence.
