Our client, a global leading provider in the Energy industry, is looking to appoint a successful Commercial Project Manager to be based in Maputo.
JOB DIMENSION
• The Commercial Project Manager will bring the analytical, commercial and interpersonal skills necessary to support the project development and commercial activities required to advance the Project alongside a team of highly successful, focused professionals backed by one of the world’s most highly regarded DFIs.
• You will have a passion for delivering value and impact through investment. You will work effectively as part of a small team to drive the Project delivery, support commercial structuring, and coordinate the activities required to advance the project toward implementation.
• You will be joining a dynamic and collegiate team with a flat structure, working with experienced colleagues who encourage early responsibility and personal and professional development. The successful candidate can expect variety, exposure, and responsibility well beyond that offered by larger businesses.
Responsibilities:
• Support the Project Director in the project’s development and coordination of all key project workstreams, with a primary focus on the commercial workstream.
• Maintain and update as necessary the project’s financial model, including running sensitivity analysis to support commercial negotiations.
• Support the Project Director and London team in discussions and negotiations with long-term debt, concessional finance providers and donors.
• Maintain and report on project budget monitoring, including tracking forecasts and actual expenses.
• Draft project related reports as necessary to be presented to the Project Director, Project Sponsors and various stakeholders.
• Conduct research related to the transmission sector in Mozambique, regulatory environment, project stakeholders, commercial benchmarks, and relevant contractors or suppliers to support development of the Project.
• Proactively keeping up to date with market developments relevant to the project, the transmission sector, and Mozambique’s energy landscape.
REQUIREMENTS
• You will be joining a dynamic and collegiate team with a flat structure that encourages early responsibility and personal and professional development. Ideally, you will bring:
• 7-10 years of experience, with knowledge of the Mozambique electricity market, its key players, contracts and risks. Candidates should have a passion for delivering economic and social impact through increased access to sustainable energy.
• Project Finance Modelling skills (including VBA).
• A working knowledge of project finance transactions and risk mitigation strategies.
• Experience supporting development of complex projects in an emerging markets context.
• Transaction structuring and execution experience.
• Ability to establish relationships with key stakeholders and to build rapport with colleagues and partners.
• Strong report writing and verbal communication skills, able to articulate a compelling argument.
• A sharp intellect evidenced by a strong academic background.
• Portuguese language proficiency and familiarity with Mozambican business context.
• Experience or exposure to large-scale project development, particularly in power infrastructure.
• Familiarity with project finance contracts.
• Experience working with government stakeholders, utilities, regulators in emerging markets.
• Understanding of environmental and social frameworks (e.g. ESIA, permit5ting)
• Experience working with donors and development finance institutions, including adhering to reporting requirements.
